Intestacy in BC: what will your spouse get and children receive?
Your spouse will get the first $300,000 (or $150,000 if your spouse is not the parent of all of your children). After that, 50% will go to your spouse and 50% will go to your child or children. How many witnesses does a BC will need?
A will in BC needs to have two witnesses, who can affirm that the details of the document accurately reflect the wishes of the person making the will.
Are holographic (handwritten) wills legal in BC?
No – unless witnessed by two witnesses like other wills.
